Paradoxical Intention

Two years ago I read this book called "Man's Search for Meaning", a book half about Viktor E. Frankl's struggle in a German concentration camp, and half about the therapeutic technique called, LOGOTHERAPY. This is probably one of the greatest therapeutic ideas since Freud, because Dr. Frankl uses one's sense of humor and logic to fight one's fears and tribulation. There is one process he brings up that has set me spinning on a Lazy Susan.
    Paradoxical Intention.

Track Bicycles, Fixed Gears, and Fixies

A few months ago I had a building need for a fixed gear bike. It progressed when the movie Premium Rush came out, by then I was dreaming about them, and it was driving me mad! I already had a bike that I had planned to turn into a fixie, which I dismantled. I also custom built a 27 inch fixed wheel, because I knew 27 inch tires are super cheap (and when I learned how to skid brake, I took advantage of the cheapness).
Fixed gear bikes are the purest of all bicycles out on the market today. Fixies were the first bikes to be built, and were used by everyone, that is until the automobile came around. Most bicycles today use a freewheel which allows you to coast or cease leg movement without a wreck. Fix gears on the other hand, do not have a freewheel, if you were to stop your legs, the bike would stop. But for a fixed gear it takes a little more effort stopping your legs.
Here is a bit of food for your thinker: when running, do you ever cease leg movement to relax your legs? If you were running at a high speed and just stopped, you'd trip and fall. Now explain to me why you would ride a bike any differently. Therefore a fixed gear bike is the bike to have!

Woman, PEH!

Today while cycling around, I stopped at a stop light and this car pulled upside to me, I looked over and noticed it was a girl, so I flicked my head back and raised my eyebrows. She the put her hand out, knowing full well I was watching, and messed with her wedding ring! Excuse me, ma'am, I'm probably never going to see you again, SO PUT YOUR HAND DOWN. It really intrigued me, could someone be so self absorbed to think all men that look at her to be "lusting" after her. Then it made me think, if a person that has this more or less sexual paranoia, would be more prone to cheating on his or her mate? Fast-food for thought.

The (Unplanned) Trip to Holly, Washington

A little introduction to what I was doing: I had previously planned to bike to my uncle's house in Bremerton, and leave a note saying "Lucas was here", but I kinda got lost... Here is my story...

My Mega Modernization Project of a Vintage Schwinn Varstiy!

In the month of August, 2011, I was given a Schwinn Varsity frame, fork, and various other parts. I was planning the build project to be a restoration, but I was sorely wrong. Finding the correct parts, i.e., 27 inch wheelset, 1 piece crankset, was to complicated, I then decided I was going to modernize the all-American steel frame!

Brain Doors: Gateways to Possiblilies

Surgeons have found oak doors in patients brains while... Just kidding, the doors of which I speak are merely figurative.
