Where have I gone?

So, it is apparent that I haven't posted anything insightful in quite some time. I have been producing music for fun and uploading the songs on the interweb! But, I have learned some things about my instincts.

Modern Media: Sex Sells

Here is the verdict, attractive women suffer from self esteem issues, young adult males are spewing with hormones, teenage girls have the sex drive of a cat in heat.
This is modern society.

Why is it that over the past fifty years, sex drive has progressively affected younger people? Let me answer that with another question: how easy is it to access sexual content today?

Cellular phones, television, music, movies, magazines, books, comics, junk mail, newspapers, and computers, can contain sexual content. Have you ever heard of the term “Sex Sells"? This is used by advertisement creators when designing ads directed toward men.

Dating Sites
I recently saw an E-Harmony ad in which a supposed husband and wife begin to make out, and then the old guy chimes in and talks about the lasting marriages E-Harmony creates. Why do I need two people passionately kissing to advertise that E-Harmony is the dating site to go to?

Food Adverts
Why would a self conscious, low self esteemic model eat a greasy cheese burger? No. Would you (young male) eat a burger that a beautiful woman was eating? Kind of silly if you think about it. “I'm going to eat a burger because a scandalously dressed woman is."

Now you may be asking me, “Lucas, how do I protect myself from the sex filled advertisements?" Frankly, move to a place where even the U.S. government can't find you. We are surrounded by visual and subliminal sexual messages. It is nearly impossible to avoid the “Sex Sells" of our visual society. The only way to stay away from these adverts is to watch pre-80's shows and movies... on Netflix.

Are Zombies really fictional?

I have been working on a zombie style novel for the past 8 months, and I began to think, "People have been preparing for the 'zombie apocalypse' for some time, what if it has already happened?" We as humans have three instincts: eat, sleep, reproduce. Zombies do the same thing everyday: eat, sleep, infect (reproduce).

Women, Peh! (Part Два)

-------This is a post about women I knew, these are merely opinions, and observations. Please don't kill me--------

How secure are we?

I want you to type your name into a search engine and look at the “Images" section. Do you recognize any of the images?

Hetain Patel developed this theory over many years of self development and it can apply to all of us.

Thinking With Your Death Bed

I've been considering this topic for a while: Thinking with your death bed. Now, this is not a "YOLO" ideal, rather a way of making better choices in life.

I [Hate] the "Now," Part Deux!

I posted last year about the degradation of language, but things have gotten worse from 2012 to 2013. I have observed many mutations in the human language since last year:
2012, there was omg, wtf, rofl, lmao, lol, etc. 2013, there is a new trend: abbreviation.

Customer Service Voice and Passive Aggressism

There isn't anything I hate more than customer service voice used in an argument. A couple weeks ago I got in a ridiculous argument with my colleague about how I was taught to clean the bathroom. I work at high end fast-food restaurant as a cleaner from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. My daily schedule includes clock in, floor mat

Paradoxical Intention

Two years ago I read this book called "Man's Search for Meaning", a book half about Viktor E. Frankl's struggle in a German concentration camp, and half about the therapeutic technique called, LOGOTHERAPY. This is probably one of the greatest therapeutic ideas since Freud, because Dr. Frankl uses one's sense of humor and logic to fight one's fears and tribulation. There is one process he brings up that has set me spinning on a Lazy Susan.
    Paradoxical Intention.

Track Bicycles, Fixed Gears, and Fixies

A few months ago I had a building need for a fixed gear bike. It progressed when the movie Premium Rush came out, by then I was dreaming about them, and it was driving me mad! I already had a bike that I had planned to turn into a fixie, which I dismantled. I also custom built a 27 inch fixed wheel, because I knew 27 inch tires are super cheap (and when I learned how to skid brake, I took advantage of the cheapness).
Fixed gear bikes are the purest of all bicycles out on the market today. Fixies were the first bikes to be built, and were used by everyone, that is until the automobile came around. Most bicycles today use a freewheel which allows you to coast or cease leg movement without a wreck. Fix gears on the other hand, do not have a freewheel, if you were to stop your legs, the bike would stop. But for a fixed gear it takes a little more effort stopping your legs.
Here is a bit of food for your thinker: when running, do you ever cease leg movement to relax your legs? If you were running at a high speed and just stopped, you'd trip and fall. Now explain to me why you would ride a bike any differently. Therefore a fixed gear bike is the bike to have!

Woman, PEH!

Today while cycling around, I stopped at a stop light and this car pulled upside to me, I looked over and noticed it was a girl, so I flicked my head back and raised my eyebrows. She the put her hand out, knowing full well I was watching, and messed with her wedding ring! Excuse me, ma'am, I'm probably never going to see you again, SO PUT YOUR HAND DOWN. It really intrigued me, could someone be so self absorbed to think all men that look at her to be "lusting" after her. Then it made me think, if a person that has this more or less sexual paranoia, would be more prone to cheating on his or her mate? Fast-food for thought.

The (Unplanned) Trip to Holly, Washington

A little introduction to what I was doing: I had previously planned to bike to my uncle's house in Bremerton, and leave a note saying "Lucas was here", but I kinda got lost... Here is my story...

My Mega Modernization Project of a Vintage Schwinn Varstiy!

In the month of August, 2011, I was given a Schwinn Varsity frame, fork, and various other parts. I was planning the build project to be a restoration, but I was sorely wrong. Finding the correct parts, i.e., 27 inch wheelset, 1 piece crankset, was to complicated, I then decided I was going to modernize the all-American steel frame!

Bicycles are Rad

When designing a bike, I start out with the generic frame, then sculpt the lines to make some pretty radical bikes. When designing a bike, I keep in mind the structure; bikes are made of triangles... Well, the simple ones are...

I am not in the "Now"

The communication levels in teens have dropped significantly since 1990. Why 1990 you say? The invention of the cellular telephone.
